Erica Vinson-Ondecko '07, NFL Apprentice | Alumni Profile | Juniata College

Erica Vinson-Ondecko '07 was the eighth female football player to ever play at the collegiate level. Since graduating from Juniata College, she has gone on to coach high school and collegiate football players and recently served as an apprentice for the National Football League's Baltimore Ravens. This alumni profile highlights the struggles and victories, highs and lows, of Erica's football career, and shares her advice for other females who are working or playing in a male dominated career or sport.

Harbaugh thinks we’re going to see more and more women moving into higher level coaching roles.

“I do. I think you’re going to see it,” he said. “It’s a talent pool. You got a lot of very smart people in half the population. I’m fired up about it.”

“A lot of people have dreams and goals,” said Vinson-Ondecko. “George is unique in that he does everything that he can to reach those goals. He also loves kicking, so that passion, paired with his work ethic, is a powerful combination.”

Abi Sweger's leap into wrestling, football welcomed by community, despite some obstacles


Big Spring’s Abi Sweger met Waynesboro's female kicking coach, Erica Vinson-Ondecko, at Waynesboro after their game this season. “I told her [football] is absolutely the best sport in the world,” said Vinson-Ondecko, who kicked at Juniata College.
